New multi-storey car park for Beck Hill, Bridlington
How will the amenity of neighbours be protected?
The architects have worked with the characteristics of the site to ensure that the residential amenity of neighbours is maintained. The vehicle access and exit points have been carefully considered and the car park design works to minimise overlooking from the upper-levels. The design and use of modern, directional lighting also aims to reduce the potential for night-time light spill. The car park will not be operational overnight.
Although the precise hours of operation are yet to be decided, night-time use will be restricted to minimise disturbance.
CCTV will be provided to ensure that the building is regularly monitored.
Where are the vehicular accesses?
The only vehicle access to the car park will be via Beck Hill, with exit being onto Hilderthorpe Road.
How do pedestrians access the car park?
Pedestrians will be able to enter and exit the car park from Beck Hill, Hilderthorpe Road and Sawmill Yard.
Accessible spaces will be on the ground floor and enable level access to the street.
Two lifts will serve the upper floors, alongside three separate stairways.
Pay stations will be provided on the ground floor.
What will the height of the building be?
The naturally ventilated facility features public parking on the ground, first and second floors. The open second floor is approximately 6m above Hilderthorpe Road.
How will construction traffic enter the site?
Intended to minimise disruption to site neighbours, a Construction Management Plan will be agreed with the Council at a later stage. This will consider various aspects of construction works, including deliveries, contractor parking and construction traffic.
What will the hours of construction be?
We are proposing that construction work is done between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm on Saturday with no working on Sundays or Bank Holidays.
How much will it cost to park there?
The car park will be owned and operated by East Riding of Yorkshire Council. Therefore, its policies and hourly rates will be in-line with other council-owned car parks in Bridlington.
